What to see and do in Villasimius.

We offer more than just the sea: Villasimius is certainly known for its beautiful beaches, but a holiday at our campsite will allow you to discover much more...

Starting with the small town, which in summer becomes more lively thanks to tourists, events and nightlife.
Here you simply cannot miss the Archaeological Museum, the guardian of the long history of this region, which dates back to the pre-Nuragic period and of which the museum preserves testimonies belonging to the Phoenician, Punic and Roman cultures. The whole area is also dotted with
watchtowers: among these, the Fortezza Vecchia (Old Fortress), near the tourist harbour, is particularly important. Built by the Aragonese and revisited by the Savoys, it can now be visited by everyone.

Also for lovers of history and archaeology, the surroundings of Villasimius offer several sites that are perfect for an excursion on foot or by bike.
You can start at the Spiaggia del Riso at our campsite, near which you will find ancient (4th millennium BC) domus de janas. These are typical Neolithic tombs and, even though only one tomb and a few smaller domus remain intact of the entire necropolis, they are definitely worth a visit.
Further inland, you can also reach some nuraghi (Solanas, Giardone, Cuccureddus, Is Traias, Manunzas and Baccu'e Gattus) and menhirs.

The Villasimius region is also perfect for hiking, horseback riding or cycling: ask when you arrive, and we will be happy to provide you with all the information you need to better organise your days.

Lastly, don't miss out on a boat trips to the stunning Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area: here we definitely recommend a visit to Cavoli Island, which also houses a lighthouse and the Capo Carbonara Marine Research Centre, and to Serpentara Island. Scuba diving excursions are also organised to admire the statue of the Madonna del Naufrago, sculpted in 1979 by the artist Pinuccio Sciola and lying on the seabed at a depth of about ten metres, near the Isola dei Cavoli.
But the whole Marine Area is truly a paradise for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts: if you are passionate about the underwater world, we will be happy to give you all the information you need on where to hire diving and snorkelling equipment and on the most beautiful seabeds to explore around our campsite.
